Protest at Kaladi police station; case against two MLAs

KALADI: A case has been filed against 13 people, including MLAs Roji M John and Saneesh Kumar Joseph, in the incident where two KSU workers were released from the Kaladi police station lockup. The case has been filed under five sections namely unlawful assembly, trespassing, use of force, and obstruction of justice.

On Saturday morning, Rajeev and Dijon were taken into custody by the police from their homes because they stopped the police who were looking for the accused on the complaint of ragging a college student. Roji M John and Sanish Kumar Joseph, who came to the station on Sunday morning after getting the information that these accused were not released, scolded the policemen and released them both. Then two MLAs and Benny Bahanan MP sat in front of the station till 12 noon as a protest. The rural district police chief came to the station and held a discussion to end the strike. After registering a case against the students for obstructing the execution of duties, they were produced before the magistrate on Sunday night and released on bail.<

Abhijith, Jomon, Sarish, Sandeep and Vishnu, who were arrested on Friday for stopping the police in the college, were released on bail on Saturday itself.

Roji M John MLA said that the innocent KSU workers were treated cruelly by putting them on the platform of the jeep without even being given fresh water. He also alleged that the SFI strategy is being carried out with the help of the police to conquer KSU, which has been winning the college union elections for 18 years in Sree Sankara College.
